Living in the Moment: Selfies with Landmarks
The Trend of Prioritizing Photos over Real Experiences
At Mirador Heritage And Eco Park, there's this Japanese arch ⛩️ with a bell hanging from it, 🔔 which is quite famous at the venue. Many people queue up just to take a photo with it. 📸
My brother once remarked,
"You haven't really been to Baguio if you haven't taken a photo with that arch."
So, we waited for almost an hour just to get in line and quickly snapped a photo, and were done.
I have nothing against people who enjoy taking photos of famous landmarks. However, considering that hundreds of angles of such places have already been captured, the only difference lies in how individuals personalize their shots. For me, it wasn't a big deal. Instead, why not live in the moment first and appreciate your surroundings rather than hastily capturing photos? Yes, you can store photos in a hard drive, but photos alone can't activate all your senses, only your eyes.
Spending ample time in Baguio and visiting most of its tourist spots, I've come to realize how the world is full of physical wonders. It may seem like I've seen it before in pictures, but being physically present in those places is truly wholesome. There's no need to rush; if you can't visit everywhere, just ensure you're living in the moment and fully experiencing it.
