Conquering the Anxiety of Writing a Book
Overcoming Overthinking and Finding Motivation
Today, I have written five parts of my book, inspired after reading more than five books. My teenage desire to write a book has returned, and I decided to give it a try.
But today, I felt doubts about my writing. I wondered if it would work or if anyone would read it. I started searching online for how to write a book, how to make it marketable, and how to market it. The overwhelming process from self-publishing to traditional publishing made me overthink the future of the book, even though I am just starting.
Funny thing, I stopped and questioned myself: Why am I doing this research? Why was I already thinking about selling the book? I stepped back and rethought why I wrote the book in the first place.
I wrote the book to lay out my life's frequently asked questions and try to answer them. Hopefully, when I'm done, I can piece all the questions into a single idea or answer to help people who read it, especially my sister and my future children.
When they reach this stage of life and ask these same questions, I can use my own experiences as analogies to help them figure out their own answers. My answers might not be the same as theirs, but they could inspire them to reach their conclusions. That's the main goal. If I can't finish it, how can I reach that end result?
Keep writing. Do it.
Fuel yourself with the reasons why you started this journey. You can't think about how to sell a book if you don't have a book to sell. I don't want to revert to my past self, blinded by the idea of publishing a book and forgetting to write and continue. Things will flow naturally once you start the source of the flow.
"If you want to pass the ferocious river, you need to find its source."
