My Decision to Buy the Kindle Scribe
Trading Social Media for Meaningful Reading and Writing with the Kindle
I've been using my Kindle ⬛ for four days now since I bought it in Shopee. 🛍️ I can definitely say it's reignited my enjoyment of reading 📖 and writing. 📝 It's actually quite fun to write with on this device! 🤪
The Kindle has also helped me significantly reduce my social media addiction.
Now, I only open my phone when I need to look something up. Overall, the Kindle has replaced some of my phone time with more meaningful and productive reading and writing activities.
However, I've noticed the battery life isn't quite what I expected. The battery went from 88% to 53% in just four days, even though the Amazon website claims it can last for 3 months or 12 weeks on a single charge with 30 minutes of reading per day. Perhaps this is because I'm using it for more than an hour for both reading and writing.
On a fascinating note, I learned that the Kindle uses a copper mesh at the bottom of the screen and near the tip of the stylus to create a pressure-sensitive writing experience. This eliminates the need to charge the stylus and allows the Kindle to recognize both the pen and what you write on the screen. This technology, which resembles a honeycomb on a microscopic level, has a lot of potential for the future. I hope it becomes more widely used soon.
In the meantime, I'm thoroughly enjoying this distraction-free tablet from Amazon. I don't regret buying it for a second. It's helping me to clear my head and explore new ways of thinking and experiencing things. It's a bit like a technological throwback to how people used to learn and create, and I'm happy to be embracing technology while also reconnecting with older methods. Hopefully, this investment will help me learn and grow to become the best version of myself.
In my corner of the world, I might be one of the first to embrace the e-ink revolution, another "breaking norms" event.
