A Night in BGC: Unexpected Adventures and Revelations
Exploring Friendship, Nightlife, and Personal Insights
Andrea 👩🏻 invited me to meet up 😊 yesterday at BGC at 7 PM ⏱︎
because she saw my story on Messenger. 💬 At first, I hesitated because I was a bit tired 🥱 after my trip to Quezon City, 🤔 but I agreed 🤗 since she mentioned she'd be busy in the coming days. 👀
Getting to BGC was tough;traffic was heavy, so I had to book a motorcycle taxi. I arrived at BGC at 8 PM and looked for Andrea at Market Market. Oh my! She is so thoughtful and kind. She's a bit neutral, doesn't like my teasing, especially when I call her 'babe' in public—she finds it cringe—but she's okay with other teasing.
She's good at sharing her experiences and life stories. She gave me a tour of some parts of BGC and treated me to dinner. Later, she invited me to join her friend Esa at a club named XYLO because it was Esa's birthday.
As the party started, the music and lighting were a bit overwhelming for my eyes and ears. People started dancing, and I had two glasses of gin, which made me feel a bit cold and tipsy, but I managed to handle myself.
Throughout the party, I talked with several people, and Andrea and others kept checking on me to see if I was okay. One lady was from Bacolod, so we spoke in our similar dialect. I asked why she was here, and she said she just wanted to get drunk; it became a habit for her. Another lady was there because she was invited; she's usually nice and approachable despite being in nightclubs occasionally.
The most interesting person was a 20-year-old girl who goes to nightclubs every night for over a year to escape her father's noisy mouth. I told her that happiness from drinking is temporary, and she agreed. I mentioned that I don't have such reasons in life because I love my parents.
As I observed her dancing forcefully from the beginning, it didn't seem like typical nightclub moves, especially compared to what she said about her year-long habit. She also shared that we're both introverts and that she's like me when she's not drunk, so she understands me. She started roaming around the club, and I looked for her to continue our conversation.
Later, she reappeared, saying goodbye to her friends and Esa with an older Western guy. I asked Andrea if that was her dad, but she said no.
I was shocked!
She's only 20 and into such hardcore partying—it exceeded my expectations. She's developed an intense coping mechanism for her family problems. Andrea assured me she'd be safe.
It blew me away and broke my heart. As we left, Andrea shared that these are hardcore party people, and while she usually declines their invites because she's busy, she admires their strong friendship and loyalty.
Andrea and her friends may have different values, but their bond is strong due to their hospitality and love for each other.
They are rare, beautiful kind people, but there's a part of them that lacks emotional capacity, seeking temporary highs. Witnessing this firsthand was shocking, despite knowing it happens.
I was surprised to see a foreigner desperately seeking the attention of a gay person; they kissed a lot, which blew my mind. Andrea reassured me it's normal and happens often. She's the one who tells me often to observe.
Andrea invited me to dance in the center and taught me some chill dance moves, but I felt overwhelmed by the confidence of the happy people around me. Overall, I was happy with the experience and grateful to Andrea for introducing me to this different world. I learned and witnessed a lot in that short event. The party started at 11 PM, and we left around 4 AM; I got home at 6 AM.
