Choosing Memories Over Obligations
A One-Time Birthday Celebration
Yesterday, I made a bold decision to skip my psychological test for my upcoming travel to Malaysia. Instead, I chose to be the photographer for my cousin’s son’s first birthday celebration, an event that happens only once in a lifetime. These photos will serve as cherished memories for him as he grows up, something I never had from my own first birthday.
Thomas, the birthday celebrant, is lucky to have parents who could afford this gathering. Though the celebration was simple, it was special, bringing together relatives and our barangay community. As a photographer, I know that every shot—good or bad—matters.
Unfortunately, my SD card got corrupted. I was shocked, but thankfully, I stayed calm and didn’t click “format.” A YouTube tutorial saved me, and I successfully recovered the files. I’ll be storing these images safely on my hard drive as a backup.
As for my psychological test, I’ve asked the school staff to rescheduled it for next week. With my responsibilities as a thesis leader, intern, and freelancer, managing everything has been challenging, but I’m grateful for the people who support me and help keep things moving. Also thanks to CJ for letting me borrow his camera!
Now, my next challenge is directing my final film for ISAT-U tomorrow. I’m feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety, it’s going to be crazy, but I’m ready to take it on!
