75-Days Insane Routine
Entering a New Challenge from a Friend
This morning, a friend initiated a group challenge titled "75HARD." According to him, "This is the program for people who really want to change their fucking lives dramatically." I don't have any immediate plans to change my life, but "It involves completing 5 tasks daily over 75 days." I don't know what will happen over the next 75 days, but I'm expecting it to be intense.
"I haven't completed it yet; the best I've done is 51 days." "But I've seen people who have completed it, and their lives have changed. I want to give it another try. Who wants to join?"
What I like about these people is their enthusiasm for inviting others to life-changing routines or experiences. When I saw the word "challenge," my curiosity was piqued, and I started reading the criteria:
- Drink a gallon of water a day.
- Read 10 pages of a non-fiction book.
- Workout twice a day, 45 minutes each (one session outdoors).
- Take a progress picture.
- Stick to a diet (No alcohol, no cheat meals).
Looking at the criteria, number 4 and 5 seem manageable for me, but numbers 1 and 3 are challenging due to their physical demands. I need to figure out how to manage this over the next 7 days. Eyes on the prize, Elly!
Even if there is no prize at the end, this challenge will help me build discipline at the same time muscles, improve my sleeping routine, and maximize my efforts. Although it's making my life busier, it's a positive change.
As a vegetarian, I don't have many good sources of protein, so it's going to be a tough journey. I might end up as a stick figure, but I need to find ways to get more protein to manage the workouts.
For the twice-daily workouts, I'll wake up early and do 10 minutes of HIIT for 3 rounds with 5-minutes rest, followed by an afternoon walk from school to the boarding house, which is less than an hour.
Drinking 4 liters of water is something I've never done before, but I've managed to drink 2 liters straight before, so I plan to drink 2 liters in the morning and 2 liters in the afternoon using my 2-liter water container. This should work well with my workout schedule.
I read as much as possible every day, so I'll document the learnings from the 10 pages of the book I read.
Finally, this challenge will test my discipline and commitment and further strengthen it. It's another way for me to push my limits, so let's see what happens.
Update 2024-08-12: I couldn't finish my tasks because the workout takes a lot of time. Forty-five minutes isn't just forty-five minutes—there's a lot of rest and setting up involved to get back to a normal state. Instead of using that 45 minutes to complete the tasks I had, I now need to finish other things before returning to this workout challenge. I guess I'll try again next semester.
